ASBESTOS
ABATEMENT
Licensed removal and encapsulation of asbestos-containing materials from residential, commercial, and industrial properties across the greater Seattle metro. Full containment, HEPA filtration, air monitoring, and proper disposal — every project, every time.
WHAT IS ASBESTOS & WHY IS IT DANGEROUS?
Asbestos is a group of naturally occurring mineral fibers that were widely used in construction materials from the 1920s through the 1980s. When these materials are disturbed — through renovation, demolition, or natural deterioration — microscopic fibers become airborne and can be inhaled, causing serious health conditions including mesothelioma, asbestosis, and lung cancer.
Washington State law requires that any building constructed before 1985 be surveyed for asbestos-containing materials before renovation or demolition work begins. Failing to comply can result in significant fines, project delays, and serious health risks to workers and occupants.
Global Asbestos Abatement Services provides full-service asbestos identification, containment, removal, and disposal for properties throughout Seattle, Tacoma, Renton, and Bellevue.

RESIDENTIAL & COMMERCIAL ABATEMENT
Whether it's a single-family home with asbestos ceiling texture or a multi-story commercial building with asbestos pipe insulation throughout, we have the crew, equipment, and experience to handle it.
Residential Projects
Popcorn ceiling removal, floor tile abatement, vermiculite attic insulation, siding removal, and pipe wrap in older homes. We work with homeowners, real estate agents, and home inspectors to clear properties for sale, renovation, or peace of mind.
Commercial & Industrial Projects
Large-scale abatement for office buildings, schools, hospitals, warehouses, and industrial facilities. We coordinate with project timelines, maintain strict containment in occupied buildings, and provide full documentation for regulatory compliance and liability protection.
Every project follows a rigorous, regulation-compliant process from initial survey through final clearance.
Survey & Testing
Certified inspectors collect samples of suspect materials and send them to an accredited lab for analysis.
Project Planning
We develop a detailed abatement plan including containment design, crew scheduling, and regulatory notifications.
Containment Setup
Full negative-pressure containment with poly sheeting, HEPA air scrubbers, and decontamination chambers.
Removal & Disposal
Trained crews remove ACM using wet methods, double-bag waste, and transport to licensed disposal facilities.
Clearance Testing
Independent air monitoring confirms fiber counts are below regulatory limits. Final documentation provided.
Buildings constructed before 1985 may contain asbestos in a wide range of materials. Here are the most common ones we encounter in the Puget Sound region.
Popcorn Ceilings
Textured "acoustic" ceiling coatings applied in homes built between the 1950s and 1980s are one of the most common sources of asbestos in residential properties.
Floor Tiles & Mastic
9"x9" and 12"x12" vinyl floor tiles and the black adhesive (mastic) used to secure them frequently contain asbestos, especially in pre-1980 homes and commercial buildings.
Pipe & Duct Insulation
Asbestos-containing insulation wrapping around heating pipes, boiler lines, and HVAC ductwork is common in older commercial buildings and homes with original mechanical systems.
Roof Shingles & Siding
Cement-fiber roofing and siding materials (often called "transite") used on homes and commercial buildings through the 1970s frequently contain chrysotile asbestos.
Vermiculite Insulation
Loose-fill vermiculite attic insulation — particularly the Zonolite brand from the Libby, Montana mine — is contaminated with tremolite asbestos in the majority of cases.
Joint Compound & Plaster
Drywall joint compound (mud), plaster walls, and textured wall coatings in pre-1980 buildings often contain asbestos fibers mixed into the compound during manufacturing.
